LDS have included chapter summaries or “headings” for several years. They are an important study tool for students and others studying the scriptures. They have made reading a bit more easier for everyone.
The 1920 edition of the Book of Mormon included an “appendix” or sorts, which included all chapter headings together. This was called the “Synopsis of Chapters”.
What’s the point?
Having all chapter headings together is a very useful summarizing and navigational tool. Having this sort of tool makes it easier to see the big picture of books. They could also be used to easily memorize the organization of the scriptures. In a navigational way, this could make locating certain familiar scriptures, events, or stories much easier.
