The Caractors Document and Egyptian Glyphs
The Caractors Document contains glyphs copied from the gold plates. This document can be found on the Joseph Smith Papers website. Jarry D. Grover, Jr. noticed the document had some glyphs that were similar to Egyptian and Mesoamerican numbers. He pursued an analysis of each glyph and offered a possible translation of the document.
What’s the point?
His translation provides incredible insight into the timeline, geography, and people of the Book of Mormon. Though it is speculative, it is worth study. And if this information is in fact true, this is a great source of insight into the language of the Book of Mormon, its people, and the gold plates themselves.
I have organized and condensed information about the Book of Mormon timeline here.
