Animals in the BOM

The Book of Mormon account included various random references to animals found and used by the peoples in the record. The Nephites and Jaredites raised flocks and hunted animals for food.

What’s the point?

Studying animals in the BOM has three major purposes: (1) we can use this information when trying to match archaeology with the Book of Mormon, (2) animals are used as metaphors that teach us principles and help illustrate some events in the BOM, and (3) we can further understand the people of the Book of Mormon and their lifestyle.
