‘Epistle’ is just scriptural jargon for a letter. Paul, in the Bible, wrote several epistles that are found in the New Testament. The Book of Mormon also contains several epistles exchanged between characters. They played an important role in the wars described in the record. Mormon often recorded the actual words of some epistles but others are merely mentioned as having been written.

Studying epistles of the Book of Mormon provides insight into the lives and culture of the Nephite people. It can also shed light on the minds of the Book of Mormon characters and their relationship to whoever they wrote to.

This is a list of all letters that people wrote to each other in the Book of Mormon. ‘M’ means the epistle was only mentioned while ‘R’ means it is recorded in the Book of Mormon itself.
